The Life Aquatic

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou is the most refreshing thing I have seen on a movie screen in a long time. Movies have become so incredibly boring to me in the last few years. Every time I think that something has progressed as much as it possibly can, whether it be film, music, or as in my previous entry, video games, I am always pleasantly suprised to find out that I am wrong. Too bad some people just don’t understand.

I was surprised at the stories I’ve heard of people walking out of that movie. I mean, it’s no Tenenbaums, but geez, it’s good stuff. You’re right, some people really don’t understand Eastwood. But Hilary Swank did do a marvelous job.

I’ve been meaning to see this movie forever. Stupid life keeps getting in the way. I don’t bother reading reviews because it’s just somebody else’s opinion, somebody I don’t even know. I don’t even listen to my close friends if they say a movie is shit/golden. It’s better just to see it and decide for yourself.
And then there’s Wes Anderson, who can do no wrong.

This has nothing to do with The Life Aquatic. When you are watching Series One, episode four of The Office you’ll encounter a song called “Free Love Freeway.” You’ll THINK it’s the best thing you’ve ever heard. Then, if you get The Office Specials and watch the extras you’ll see the making of the studio recording of “Free Love Freeway” and you’ll KNOW it’s the best thing you’ve ever heard.
