I found a tutorial on how to hack into your iPod in this month’s issue of Mac Addict. Despit the fact that it said, “If you screw up this hack, you can turn your iPod into a lump as useless as a helping of your mom’s boiled cucuzza squash…Proceed at your (and your iPod’s) own risk,” I went ahead and tried it anyway. Fortunately, I follow directions pretty well and I was successful at replacing that “NO” symbol with my own handsome face. Phew…

Nice hack job. Did you ever get Garageband 2 to work right? I’ve recently made the upgrade, but have not tried multi-track recording yet.

GB2 has been working great lately. Only a few issues. It seems, from the Apple discussions, that GB2 is a processor-sucking freak. But still, my Powerbook is 1.33GHz with 1.25GHz of RAM. That should be plenty. Who knows… I haven’t tried multitrack stuff either. The hardware for that kind of thing is very pricey.

Have you tried Sound Studio at all? It comes pre-installed on some Macs. It doesn’t do multi-tracking, but is easier to use for single track recording, or “one mic in the middle of the room” scrach recordings. Either way, Sound Studio files can be dumped into GB later if you are so inclined.

Yes, I use Sound Studio for that exact “one mic in the middle of the room” task. Mainly for recording practices. Only problem is, it came pre-installed on my eMac but not on my Powerbook so I am using the trial version. I should just pay for the damn thing, you know?

Before you go dropping an dollars you should go the FAQ on the Felt Tip website. There’s a description of where to find the requisite registration info on your harddrive, in the library somewhere I believe, so that you can put Sound Studio on other computers.

Nice re-work on the site! And thanks for fixing the RSS…it was driving me NUTS to actually make the effort to go to your site EACH time to see if you have a new post.
Crap..I’m becoming an RSS snob.
