Dustin and I went to the game last night as sort of a last-minute idea after planning all week to watch it at my house. I’ve never screamed so much at a game in my life. The last three minutes of the game were the loudest three minutes I’ve ever experienced outside of my love for Nascar.
Actually I can’t stand Nascar but I have heard a strange rumor that we’re getting a track here soon. Not only that but apparently we’re getting an arena football team as well as a minor league baseball team. What’s goin’ on around here? Anybody got any more info on any of this?
Oh yeah, Arkansas beat Alabama 65-63. Hell yeah.

There are a million reasons why I love this place. One of them is definitely the crazy weather we have here. Take a look below at what Sarah was greeted with while checking the forecast. In case you can’t tell, it says High: 76º Low: 23º Snow Showers. Where else does it go from nearly 80º down to 20º and begin to snow without freaking everyone out?

I’m a little confused. Can someone please tell me if the Torino Olympics are in Torino or Turin? I keep seeing “Torino 2006″ everywhere but today I heard that the Olympics are actually being held in Turin, Italy. Does anybody know what’s up? I did a little Googling and still couldn’t figure it out. Anyone?
UPDATE: OK, I found something. Apparently Italians call it Torino, but the Anglicized version is Turin. Fair enough.

Head on over to the podcast section and get yourself some episode 2. This one’s pretty good. Danny reads some fanmail and then sings a couple of songs on his guitar. Don’t forget that you have a few choices. You can subscribe to the MP3/MP4 versions or you can just download them yourself. The MP4 versions are way cooler in that they’ve got images and chapter markers so if you’ve got a photo/video iPod, make sure you grab the enhanced version (MP4). Even if you don’t have a fancy iPod, the images and chapter markers will still show up in iTunes if you have the latest version.

Anybody know anything about OS X Server? I know OS X inside and out so I thought OS X Server would be fairly easy for me to figure out. Getting our Mac users connected has been a breeze (duh) but getting our Windows users connected has been a disaster (not surprised). With “Allow guest access” turned on, the Windows clients can easily connect but without it, they can’t even see the Xserve (imagine that). Help.
UPDATE: Problems solved. Sleeping at night can now resume.

“Here’s an idea… with less than a minute to go and a two point lead, let’s stick a freshman in there. Granted, he’s probably a good free throw shooter, but he’s a freshman and only played TWO minutes. Not that it’s his fault we lost, but damn, only three guys on the team had shot free throws all night, let one of them get the ball. Talk about upsetting.” - Seth
Well put, Seth. Enough said.

I was checking my stats today and noticed another little gem similar to the one I found last year. It sure is nice to know you can Google “find midgets strippers” and end up here. Thank God is more like it.

I’d like to start by saying that Wilco playing at the Walton Arts Center is pretty damn weird. Don’t get me wrong, I’m super excited about the show but still, that shit is weird.
Buying tickets to this show, however, was even weirder. You see, Wilco has a fan community and if you sign up for it (it’s free) you get access to pre-sale tickets a few days before the show. I signed up but buying pre-sale tickets was a total mess. First of all, they were supposed to go on sale yesterday at 9am. At 9am, I tried to get tickets but the “Buy” button still wasn’t there. I headed back over to the Wilco site and noticed that the time had been moved to 10am. So an hour later, I tried again with no luck. So I went back to the Wilco site a second time and the pre-sale date had been changed to Wednesday February 7 which I thought was odd because February 7 is today (Tuesday). A few hours later, it had been changed to Tuesday February 7 at 11am. At 10am today, I thought, “What if they changed it again and they’re really going on sale at 10am?” A couple of clicks later and guess what? THEY DID GO ON SALE EARLY! Soooooo, I bought my tickets, walked across the hall to tell a co-worker that they’d gone on sale early and by this time (about 10:15am) the only tickets available were a few singles here and there.
Long story short, I got my tickets but not many other people did. Kind of lame. But not for me I guess. If you wanna try your luck, the rest of the tickets go on sale Thursday through waltonartscenter.org
UPDATE: I just saw this on the Wilco tour page: “Stay tuned. We are arranging for more tickets to be sold via wilcoworld. ” Keep trying I guess…

So I made a couple of podcast episodes a few weeks ago (Front Porch Podcast) and just as I was about to get rolling full-steam, I found out there was another podcast of the same name. The guy was nice and didn’t threaten to sue me or anything so I took down my podcast. I edited the first episode a little and now I’m back in action. Head over to the Podcast section to hear or subscribe to the first episode (the second one is on its way soon).
I had to remove the old feed from the iTunes Music Store so bear with me while I try to convince Apple to let me re-submit my new podcast with the new name. Until then, I’ve posted an MP3 (for generic/old MP3 players) and an MP4 (for photo/video iPods). I’ve also created feeds for both. Use the MP3 feed if you prefer not to use iTunes, otherwise, the MP4 feed is the best choice. The MP4 version features chapter markers as well as photos that pop up on your iPod every once in a while.

My friends Aaron and Beverly of The New Tragedies are about to officially release their new album “Vanity Vanity” on New Scratch Records. If you’re not in the know, this band is phenomenal and personally, I can’t wait to hear the CD. If any of you guys are fans of The Paper Hearts, then you should know that Aaron played a huge part in getting that band established and he also wrote-n-sang half of the songs. Check out their MySpace page to hear some songs and then head over to New Scratch to buy the CD.
