“Here’s an idea… with less than a minute to go and a two point lead, let’s stick a freshman in there. Granted, he’s probably a good free throw shooter, but he’s a freshman and only played TWO minutes. Not that it’s his fault we lost, but damn, only three guys on the team had shot free throws all night, let one of them get the ball. Talk about upsetting.” - Seth
Well put, Seth. Enough said.

Read this…
It’s funny, you know, how McCurdy misses the freethrows and his teammates rally around him and say it’s not his fault and that he shouldn’t have been put in that situation. True, but that’s not the rest of the team’s fault, nor is it really Heath’s fault. Sad story, yes.
Yet… if he would’ve made one, or just think, two of the shots, then he would’ve been heralded as a king and the person who won the game for the Hogs. Such a slippery slope.
We’ve now lost five games in the SEC by a total of 13 points. 13!!! We lost a few close games last year, but we’re losing them by an even less margin this year. We’re almost there, almost. McCurdy will be a better player for missing the shots, but we may miss the big dance again if we don’t win a few more games. And if that happens, Heath may not be around next year.
Okay, enough geeking out.

True, true and true.

I almost wish they had just been blown out like they were through most of that game. Less of a heartbreaker that way.
But it looks like they finally (after about three years) figured out how to play agressively! Maybe this will help them in future games to be able to play this way all through a game rather than just the last minute.
