OK check it out. I’ve been watching a ton of TV lately. Seriously, I haven’t watched this much TV since I was a kid and The Cosby Show, Roseanne and America’s Funniest Home Videos were in their prime.
This time last year, I was super pumped about my Netflix account. I even upgraded my account from 3 movies at a time to 5. I was watching all sorts of movies that I’d missed in the theater as well as discovering a crapload of great documentaries that I’d never heard of. Since then, however, things have changed quite a bit and now I’m down to 2 movies at a time and I even caught myself sending a couple back last week that I hadn’t even watched. Wtf?
Now that I’m caught up on Deadwood, Entourage and Curb Your Enthusiasm, I can’t seem to find much that interests me on Netflix anymore. And looking at my queue, I’m not really all that pumped about what’s coming up soon.
So what shows have I been watching lately that have drastically increased my time in front of the tube? Let see, on Mondays, it’s Monday Night Football and Studio 60.On Wednesday, there’s 30 Rock, Lost and Inside the NFL. Thursdays have The Office, Six Degrees, The Fantasy Show and the occasional episode of My Name Is Earl. Add all of those to the normal SportsCenter-in-the-morning, Conan/Daily Show-at-night and random channel surfing I already did and that’s one hell of a load. Phew.
So now I have to ask myself whether or not to keep Netflix. Especially since I could save a few bucks by dropping it and adding Showtime which would give me access to Weeds and Dexter.
What do you guys think? I’d better decide quick, though, because I obviously don’t already have enough shows to watch…right?

I vote for showtime, because I’m probably about to do the same thing.

Dude, I’m a HUGE fan of Heroes! It’s my favorite new show this season. It’s like a TV-series prequel to X-men, but without the hot Jean Grey.
I vote you get Showtime. They’re shows are better than movies by a long shot.

I’ve never even HEARD of any of those shows! (we don’t have cable)
My vote is for Netflix - I still get obsessed with re-arranging the Queque.
(I do know of Lost, and The Office - but never watched it!)

More and more, lately, I’ve been thinking of discontinuing my Netflix. It seems like I use it a LOT more during the summer… and even then, not enough to justify $20 a month. The bad thing is, I don’t want to discontinue service for the fact that maybe one day I’ll want to get back in and not lose all of my movie ratings. Sad.

I have heard amazing things about Dexter. And as far as great documentaries is concerned. IFC on cable is the shiznit.

Funny, I just went through the same drama. And now you can put your Netflix account on hold for three months. No movies, no charges, but no losing your queue either. At least it gives you 90 days to make a decision.

Thanks, smanley.
This was taken straight from the Netflix page if any of you guys are wondering…
Q: If I cancel my account, can I keep my ratings?
A: Yes. Your ratings remain intact and can easily be viewed or updated.
Q: How do I rejoin Netflix?
A: It’s very easy to rejoin. Simply log on to Netflix and click on Start My Subscription; we’ll automatically retrieve your information, and you can restart your subscription with just one click.
