Good weather. Terrible game.

Getting good tickets to a Razorback game is one of the best feelings in the world. In fact, you don’t even flinch at the price tag on most occasions, even when the Hogs don’t win. This game, however, was an exception. Final score: Alabama 49, Arkansas 14. Ouch.

TGIBS (but where’s the HD?)

hd-bball.jpgThank God It’s Basketball Season, ya’ll.

Is anyone else pumped about hoops? I know I am. It’s gettin’ chilly outside and the Hogs are starting to play some b-ball. I love this time of year.

The only bummer is that nobody but ESPN seems to be living in the ‘now’ as far as broadcasting goes. There’s nothing worse than watching a non-HD basketball broadcast on a big-screen HDTV. Ugh.

I’m sure it’s easier said than done, but I, for one, cannot wait for the folks at ARSN and LFS to pony up and deliver us some Hog Ball in high definition.

Do any of you guys work in broadcasting? Any ideas on when these games might finally be broadcast in HD? I’m guessing the answer is either a) A long, long time or b) A long, long time.

Hogs win The Boot!

So last night, Darren McFadden racked up another 206 yards and three touchdowns. Not enough? Well, he also THREW a touchdown! Dude’s insane. Arkansas went on to beat #1 LSU 50-48 in triple overtime. Is it enough for Houston Nutt to keep his job and push McFadden into the frontrunner spot for the Heisman? Probably not. Is it enough to make this Thanksgiving break the most exciting in a long, long time? Absolutely. Go Hogs!

Patrick Beverley’s Head Bop

Razorbacks, Sports 4 Comments »

It’s not that uncommon for a player to bounce the ball off of an opponent when he’s in the air and about to land out of bounds. In fact, it’s a pretty smooth way to prevent a turnover. However, you usually see the ball getting bounced off of a leg or an arm and not off of somebody’s head.

In today’s Arkansas vs. Florida SEC tournament championship game, Patrick Beverley did just that. There aren’t too many things funnier than seeing a ball bounce off of someone’s head unexpectedly. I’d feel kinda sorry for Walter Hodge if they hadn’t have beaten our asses into a pulp this afternoon.

Goin’ to the Finals!

It’s hard to tell from this photo what kind of mood Charles Thomas is in since his head is underneath his jersey. However, if I told you that this snapshot was taken just moments after the Hogs won the semifinal game which means they’re headed to the SEC championship game tomorrow, the possibilites get narrowed down pretty quickly.

Yup, we’re going to the finals and it’s pretty weird given the kind of season that we’ve had so far. But not as weird as the fact that we’re playing Florida for the SEC title in the Georgia Dome which is exactly who our football team played for the SEC title back in December…IN THE SAME DAMN BUILDING!

Now that’s freaky, ya’ll.

Goin’ to the semifinals!

gary-ervin-vanderbilt.jpgAnybody that cares about the Hogs already knows about today’s win but I’m pretty excited so I posted this photo anyway.

With my new schedule, I get off at noon on Fridays so I got to watch the whole thing. Super sweet.

Oh yeah, get this: With 30 seconds left in the game, two dudes show up at my front door obviously with the intent of trying to sell me something. I was pretty short with them and told them I was watching the game and that if they wanted to sell me something they’d have to come back later. After the game, we went to the post office so I left ‘em a note telling them that the Hogs won. Turns out, they were from Dish Network and were here to get me “set up”. Errr.

I almost felt bad for them since that’s probably the worst thing those dudes could be trying to sell me right now.

ESPN is comin’ to town

Fayetteville/NWA, Razorbacks, Sports 1 Comment »

gameday.jpgI’d heard rumors that ESPN’s College GameDay might be coming to Fayetteville next Saturday but now it’s a reality according to HogWired.

The show has never made a stop in Fayetteville before so it’s pretty cool that they’ll be here for the Tennessee game at 6pm (ESPN2).

Now the only question is where will they set up? Lot 42? The Hog Trough?

Suite Hogs!

Razorbacks, Sports No Comments »

razorhog.jpgDustin got a couple of tickets to the Arkansas vs. Ole Miss game on Saturday and invited me along. Thing is, though, they weren’t just ordinary tickets. They were sky box suite tickets from one of our vendors at work. Nice!

Speaking of the Hogs, they are now 6-1 which makes them eligible for a bowl game for the first time since 2003. I usually can’t wait for Razorback basketball to start but the football Hogs are doing so well, I’m actually enjoying this season a lot. Of course, that might have something to do with my newfound interest in the sport.

Go Hogs…and Nascar?

Razorbacks 9 Comments »

Dustin and I went to the game last night as sort of a last-minute idea after planning all week to watch it at my house. I’ve never screamed so much at a game in my life. The last three minutes of the game were the loudest three minutes I’ve ever experienced outside of my love for Nascar.

Actually I can’t stand Nascar but I have heard a strange rumor that we’re getting a track here soon. Not only that but apparently we’re getting an arena football team as well as a minor league baseball team. What’s goin’ on around here? Anybody got any more info on any of this?

Oh yeah, Arkansas beat Alabama 65-63. Hell yeah.

“Here’s an idea… with less than a minute to go and a two point lead, let’s stick a freshman in there. Granted, he’s probably a good free throw shooter, but he’s a freshman and only played TWO minutes. Not that it’s his fault we lost, but damn, only three guys on the team had shot free throws all night, let one of them get the ball. Talk about upsetting.” - Seth

Well put, Seth. Enough said.

Dammit, dammit, dammit. How in the world can a team be up by 18 points and then lose the game? It’s unbelievable. I mean for real, it almost seems as if the team is being paid to lose. They start each game by beating the shit out of the other guys and then either lose the game or come damn close to losing the game. If they’re not throwing the game on purpose then what in the heck is going on? Who is to blame? The players? The coach? Are the Razorbacks cursed? Arrggh!
